Doodled Dogs by Gemma Correll

Thank you to Netgalley, Quarto Publishing Group, and Gemma Correll for providing an electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Because I love Gemma Corell, I was thrilled to read a copy of this book. Corell’s drawings are so unique, it’s a gift that she offers instructions on copying her style!

Doodled Dogs includes four sections: 1) All About Dogs, which includes a ton of Correll’s illustrations of dogs of various breeds as well as a few activity pages and some funny sections such as “20 Signs You’re a Dog Person” and “What’s in a Name,” 2) Doodled Dogs Step by Step, 3) It’s a Dog’s World, which demonstrates ways to enhance dog doodles, and 4) Dog Doodle Templates.

The step-by-step instructions are incredibly clear and I had so much fun drawing the different dogs. The dog doodle templates section provides “plain” drawings to decorate with zentangle-like doodles, hats, accessories, and clothing. One section also includes some hilarious Correll classics that pair cats and dogs. Finally, the book includes a bonus project–instructions on how to make a coffee mug with a dog doodle.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes Gemma Corell or who loves dogs and wants to learn how to create cute drawings.
